ITINERARY
Our boat ride on the Ria de Aveiro, lasts 45 minutes and runs through the four main canals in the city of Aveiro: Central Canal, Canal do Côjo, Canal das Pirâmides and Canal de São Roque.
You can take this tour on 2 different boats: Moliceiro and Mercantel.
Formerly, the Moliceiros, were considered work boats, because they were used to help in the gathering of the moliço, an algae used as the main source of fertilizer in the agricultural lands of Aveiro.
The Mercantel boats are a little bigger than the Moliceiros boats and, in the past, they were used between riverside areas, for the transport of Sal de Aveiro and goods.
During the boat trip, along the banks of the canal, you can also enjoy Art Nouveau buildings, the salt flats of Aveiro, the old ceramic factory Jerónimo Pereira Campos, the Fishermen’s Quarter and the Fish Market.
